Liverpool fans should chase FSG out after Super League disgrace

This has been a whirlwind few days for football. The sport was under attack from a handful of greedy clubs and the fans fought back successfully. The Super League is on the verge of crumbling within 48 hours of being formed. Liverpool fans should be in no doubt about what needs to happen next: we need to force FSG out of this club for what they have done.

Super League announcement

Sunday night saw 12 clubs announce their intention to form a breakaway Super League.

The competition was intended to be participated in instead of the Champions League, taking place in midweek with domestic leagues being played out during the weekend.

The announcement was met with widespread condemnation. Fans, pundits, players and politicians all came out in vehement opposition to the money grab.

The backlash was instant and understandable, the competition was to be by and large a closed shop which would threaten the integrity and possibly the very existence of the football pyramid.

The format would see the dozen sides joined by three more founder clubs, the 15 remaining in the competition permanently, joined by a further five sides each season who would qualify based on domestic achievements.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

Two leagues of ten were to be played out with the top three from each league meeting in the quarter finals alongside fourth and fifth placed playoff winners.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid were the clubs to sign up.

Super League crumbles

Within just a couple of days the Super League has crumbled under pressure.

Tuesday night saw all six Premier League sides withdraw from the competition in the wake of widespread opposition.

Ed Woodward resigned from his position as Manchester United chairman with more executive casualties expected.

Given that the six Premier League sides have pulled out the future of the Super League appears untenable.

The two Milan clubs are also thought to be teetering on an exit.

With no English sides, no German sides, no French sides, how can the plan go ahead?

Liverpool fans and FSG

Kopites should be in no doubt about what needs to happen next.

Liverpool fans need to run FSG out of our club.

The owners have persistently pushed their luck: trying to hike ticket prices, furloughing staff and trademarking the Liver Bird.

They have always u-turned and we’ve begrudgingly accepted their supposedly sincere apologies.

This has been a step to far. The owners attempted to cash in a history they did not build, they have forever tarnished the reputation of our club.

There is no way around this, no way of getting out of this. They could deliver Kylian Mbappe tomorrow, it wouldn’t make the slightest difference.

This chapter is not over until FSG are chased out of Merseyside never to be seen again.
