Liverpool are going to have to bring some fresh blood into the defence over the summer. Jürgen Klopp has seen his title defence derailed by an unprecedented injury crisis this season. As a result the rumour mill is in overdrive. According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool will offer Ibrahima Konate a five-year-deal when they pay his release clause.

Liverpool centre back problems
We have never seen an injury crisis like the one Liverpool has faced this season.
Jürgen Klopp has had to contend with his entire centre back roster being ruled out until next term.
This has caused a constant chopping and changing of the side with players dragged out of position and youngsters out of their depth.
Although there were two centre backs signed in the winter window there’s no telling whether the club are settled on the current roster or whether there’s more business to be done.
Liverpool offer for Ibrahima Konate
There is one target who appears to be the most likely arrival at centre back.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool are closing in on a deal for Ibrahima Konate.
The outlet reported the news a few weeks ago but updates have been few and far between since.
Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that Liverpool will offer Ibrahima Konate a five-year-contract but RB Leipzig will only sell the player if the full release clause is paid.
The clause is thought to be worth around £34m.
What RTK has to say
Liverpool signing Konate could be one extraordinary piece of business.
The centre back has been touted as the better prospect in comparison to his teammate Dayot Upamecano.
We could well be landing a generational talent, we just need to get it over the line.
