Liverpool are going to have to get to work as soon as the summer transfer window opens. The Reds have plenty of business to do with the side underperforming this term. Gini Wijnaldum is set to leave the club on a free transfer. Liverpool should be pleased that Manuel Locatelli is open to a move abroad; he could replace the Dutchman.

Gini Wijnaldum departure
This summer will see the end of Gini Wijnaldum’s stay at Anfield.
The Dutchman’s contract is up at the end of the season and he appears no closer to signing a new deal than he did this time last year.
The midfielder has established himself as an undroppable cog in the midfield engine during his time at the club.
He has played a ridiculous amount of football in the past few years, meaning finding a replacement for him is of the utmost importance.
Liverpool should turn to Manuel Locatelli
There are plenty of players who can offer something as a replacement for the Dutchman.
Liverpool may well be tempted by Manuel Locatelli at Sassuolo.
The Italian midfielder was once suggested by the Liverpool ECHO as a potential successor to Gini.
Locatelli is deployed on the left of a middle three, much like Wijnaldum.
This term he has three goals and one assist for Sassuolo, earning a WhoScored rating of 7.09.
Locatelli open to move abroad
This summer will likely see Sassuolo cash in on the Italian midfielder.
In an interview with Corriere Dello Sport, the middle man said he’s open to a move abroad as he looks to secure Champions League football in the future.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to Manchester City, the Reds should put up a fight for him if he’s available.
