Merih Demiral could be back on the transfer market this summer, according to reports. Liverpool have been linked with the player.
This comes from Football Italia. They claim that Juventus must raise around £87m in transfer fees this summer.
The result is Alex Sandro, Adrien Rabiot, Aaron Ramsey, Federico Bernardeschi, Weston McKennie and Merih Demiral all being up for sale.
And that last one may tempt Liverpool. Turkish outlet Fanatik linked the Reds with Demiral back in January.
They mentioned a massive price, however, at around £45m. We suggested Liverpool would have to be desperate to pay that.
But it appears Demiral may be available far cheaper as Juventus hold their fire-sale. The Old Lady needs cash and with so many players available, it appears they’re going to quantity of sale over quality.
What RTK has to say
It’s no secret that Liverpool will want a centre-back this summer. They’d be mad not to, really, given all the injuries this season.
And Demiral would be a tempting option. He’s still just 23 but has experience at a top club in Juventus and internationally with Turkey.
The top experience with Juve arguably makes him a better option than Ozan Kabak but how much that experience is worth is debatable.
Demiral only played eight times last season and hasn’t exactly player every week this term, either. Injuries certainly haven’t helped, though.
Really, we’d have to see the price on this one. £45m is certainly far too much but half that? It may tempt Liverpool.
Bild recently claimed that the Reds hoped to save money on their defensive signing. It could be the difference between moving for Kabak or Ibrahima Konate, they say.
A heavily-discounted price on Demiral may well put him into the mix, then. And if it did, he could be a decent ready-made option.
