Liverpool beat Aston Villa 2-1 at Anfield today. Here are our player ratings as the Reds finally ended their horrendous home run.
Alisson – 6
Great with the ball at his feet but Alisson surely could have done better with Villa’s goal. It was a powerful shot but straight at him.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 10
Looked far better defensively with a solid covering midfielder. Also scored a fantastic goal in front of the England manager to win the game. What a fantastic player and the best right-back in the world.
Nat Phillips – 6
A solid enough, if unspectacular display.
Ozan Kabak – 6
Could have done more for their goal, perhaps, but a decent performance otherwise.
Andy Robertson – 7
Solid and a constant threat up the left flank. Just didn’t quite make anything happen but not for a lack of trying.
Fabinho – 7
A second game in a row where Fabinho wasn’t quite at his best. Could have done better for their goal but no real complaints otherwise. A player likely in for a busy week.
Gini Wijnaldum – 6
The lower end of your average Wijnaldum performance. He came off early here, surely resting him for midweek.
James Milner – 7
Milner was excellent in the first half, though slowed in the second. He covered ground, got Liverpool moving forward and helped control things.

Mohamed Salah – 9
Yes, he should have scored more but he was the best player on the pitch by a distance. A constant out-ball and goal-threat – fully deserved his goal.
Roberto Firmino – 6
Firmino was decent enough but could have been more effective. Certainly linked the forwards with midfield well.
Diogo Jota – 5
Just not his day. It happens and nothing to worry about.
Subs
Thiago – 6
Very, very unlucky not to score the winner but solid in his cameo.
Sadio Mane – N/A
Xherdan Shaqiri – N/A
