Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool are still waiting on a fitness update ahead of the Aston Villa game tomorrow. The boss doesn’t yet know who’s ready.
Liverpool played a heavy 90 minutes against Real Madrid this week and that will likely have a toll on Saturday. The Reds will host Aston Villa as they try to make up for the 7-2 defeat.
But they’ll also want to ‘make up for’ the 3-1 midweek defeat in Spain. Or at least, they’ll want to put themselves on the right track to do so.
That starts with the team Jurgen Klopp picks but he admits he’s still waiting on a fitness update.
“To be 100 per cent honest, we don’t know yet [who’s fit],” he said, per Liverpoolfc.com. “We played on Tuesday, flew back on Wednesday, trained yesterday, some players felt still the game.

“Nobody is injured from the game but we have to see what we make with the information they give us today.
“Nobody’s injured but if we have to change something you will see tomorrow.”
What RTK has to say
Tough one, this. Liverpool will want their best XI out to keep up the pressure on the top four race.
At the same time, Klopp can’t afford to run anyone into the ground. They’ve got the return leg against Real Madrid on Wednesday, after all.
Klopp will need to strike a balance, then. Anyone unfit or tired will likely step aside for the Villa game but if that proves to be too many players, Liverpool will have to take a risk.
We’re not exactly sure who you risk, though. Andy Robertson, Gini Wijnaldum and Mohamed Salah will all likely play – they always do.
Roberto Firmino is an obvious one to come in, too, while we wonder if Naby Keita will immediately get a second chance. He did only play 45 minutes in Madrid.
No matter what, that Liverpool fitness update is a big one ahead of Villa. This feels like a potential turning point for the season.
