The Liverpool academy is full of talented youngsters. In recent seasons we’ve seen the Reds bolster the youth sides with some of the most exciting prospects from around the world. The football the U18s have been playing is definitely cause for optimism. Jürgen Klopp must be buzzing with James Balagizi after his assist for Max Woltman in the 4-1 win over Wolves.
Liverpool thrash Wolves
This week was an impressive one for the Liverpool U18s.
The young Reds were in fine form as they beat Wolves 4-1 at the academy.
It took three late goals to seal the win for the teenagers but they were dangerous throughout.
The scoring was opened by Max Woltman in the first half, firing an instinctive finish past the keeper.
The visitors equalised in the second half after the Reds squandered a host of chances.
Liverpool went back ahead through Kaide Gordon on the 75 minute mark, the recent recruit beating the keeper at his near post.
Woltman netted a tap in after 80 minutes before Gordon scored a penalty in stoppage time to double his own tally.
James Balagizi impresses
This was another stand out game for Liverpool starlet James Balagizi.
The teenager was pulling all of the strings in the midfield and his role in Max Woltman’s second goal was particularly impressive.
Balagizi hounded a Wolves midfielder on the edge of the visitor’s box, nicking the ball off him before rounding a defender and squaring the ball for a tap in for Woltman.
The determination of his pressing late in the game and the goal it produced should have Jürgen Klopp buzzing about the young man.
