Liverpool likely won’t give Jurgen Klopp his ideal summer transfers, according to reports. The boss may have to settle for second-best.
This comes from Eurosport. They claim that Jurgen Klopp has an ideal summer in mind but Liverpool likely won’t deliver the transfers.
In fact, they say it’s ‘very unlikely’ that Klopp gets what he wants. Though, what he wants may be excessive.
It revolves around centre-backs, predictably enough. Klopp would want Liverpool to sign both Ibrahima Konate and Ozan Kabak.
Konate is a player Liverpool are ‘heavily pursuing’, says the report, while Kabak is on loan at the moment. The Reds can sign him permanently for £18m, though.

Klopp would like £50m spent to bring in both. The club, however, only wants to sign one.
What RTK has to say
Whether this is excessive or not depends on the fitness of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.
Liverpool certainly need a fourth-choice centre-back but if any of those three aren’t quite right, they’ll want a replacement. At least, Klopp will.
Perhaps this is a sign that one of them isn’t a sure thing, then. That’s purely speculation on our part but it would explain why Klopp wants two centre-backs this summer.
Otherwise, we don’t really see the need. Five first-team options is quite excessive when none of the options have a comfortable second position.
Perhaps Gomez at right-back? We can’t see him playing there very often, though. Certainly not enough to justify a fifth centre-back.
It’ll likely come down to who Liverpool and Klopp prefer, then. Kabak has that in his hands – if he convinces the club over the next month or two, the spot is his.
But Konate likely has the bigger potential. If he isn’t too injury prone, there’s a world-class talent there.
It’s a big decision this summer. While Klopp may prefer not to make it, he likely has no choice but to.
