Report: Liverpool could rival Man United for Nathan Collins signing

Liverpool are going to have to strengthen the defence this summer. The Reds have had the back line devastated by injuries this term and investments are needed as a result. A report has suggested that Liverpool could move Nathan Collins from Stoke City.

Who is Nathan Collins?

19-year-old Irishman Nathan Collins plays at centre back for Stoke City.

The teenager plays on the right of a back three but is equally as comfortable as a right back.

This season the youngster has kept 13 clean sheets for the Potters.

Manchester United are thought to hold an interest in Collins with Darren Fletcher reportedly a fan of the youngster.

Liverpool could move for Nathan Collins

This summer the Reds are certain to make some high profile signings.

However, we also expect the club to bring in some more talented youngster, as they have for the past few summers.

The Liverpool ECHO has listed a few potential targets for the window.

The report has suggested Liverpool could move for Nathan Collins.

The outlet believes he could be a sensible target for the club given his mature performances at a young age in a difficult and physical division.

What RTK has to say

Given the centre back problems we’ve had this season, it wouldn’t be an outlandish idea.

However, with the rumours surrounding Ibrahima Konate and the departures his arrival would trigger, we don’t see Liverpool swooping for Nathan Collins.

There is also the consideration of the likes of Sepp van den Berg and Billy Koumetio.

We don’t have many senior centre backs but we have prospects a plenty.
