Liverpool have a five-man shortlist as they search for a new centre-back, according to reports. It features two Premier League stars.
This comes from the Mirror. They claim Liverpool want a new centre-back this summer and have a five-man shortlist to choose from.
So let’s have a look at the options.
Ozan Kabak
Kabak is the most obvious of the lot. The 21-year-old is currently at Liverpool on loan.
The Reds can sign him permanently for £18m, though. All he has to do is convince Jurgen Klopp and co. that he’s the best option available.

And given he’s already at the club, the chance is in his hands.
Ibrahima Konate
You’ve probably heard this one by now. The Athletic claimed on Monday that Liverpool were ‘closing in’ on Konate’s signature.
He’d be a fantastic addition, too. Konate is just 21 but has both Bundesliga and Champions League experience. His potential is huge.
The catch? His injury history. If Liverpool can correct that, he’s a star in the making.
Ben White
White is a very promising English centre-back who first caught the eye on loan at Leeds United last season. This campaign has seen him prove his Premier League quality at Brighton.
White is good with his feet and a competent defender – the only issue is likely price. But if Brighton suffer relegation this season, perhaps that becomes less of a problem.
Duje Caleta-Car
Liverpool nearly signed Caleta-Car at the transfer deadline, says the Independent. The Reds offered £20m and the only hitch was how late the offer went in.
Marseille didn’t have time to sign a replacement and cancelled the move. This summer, though, that won’t be a problem. Perhaps the Reds go back in.
Caglar Soyuncu
Well this would be a massive signing. Soyuncu is a very impressive defender at Leicester City and, funnily enough, Kabak’s partner at international level.
Honestly, we think this is the least-likely on the list. Leicester City are having a very good season and would demand a huge fee.
It’s only happening if Liverpool have Virgil van Dijk-levels of faith in his ability.
