Who is Marcel Sabitzer?

27-year-old Marcel Sabitzer is an undroppable part of Julian Nagelsmann’s RB Leipzig side.

The Austrian midfielder has started 18 games in the German Bundesliga this season and has made three appearances from the bench.

His all action, box-to-box style is key to the intense football that Leipzig plays.

He has six goals and two assists in the league this season, last term notching nine goals and seven assists.

The 27-year-old is comparable to James Milner in his versatility, having played in five different positions this season according to WhoScored.

Liverpool want Marcel Sabitzer

This summer the Reds are going to lose Gini Wijnaldum on a free transfer; that seems inevitable.

Jürgen Klopp will be keen to find a replacement for the Dutchman.

According to Bild, Liverpool are set to battle it out for Marcel Sabitzer.

The German outlet has claimed Manchester United and Spurs are also interested in the box-to-box man.

He should be available due to his contract expiring in 2022 and Leipzig wanting to avoid losing him on a free.

What RTK has to say

Liverpool signing Marcel Sabitzer would make plenty of sense.

He is playing in a system not too dissimilar from our own and he has the energy to take on the Wijnaldum role.

Sabitzer’s versatility will also be incredibly appealing to Jürgen Klopp.

Fingers crossed this story has legs.
