Liverpool have been struggling with squad depth this season. Only a handful of first team stars have gotten away without injury. The summer will surely see the squad beefed up. According to Sabah in Turkey, Liverpool are lining up a bid for Ugurcan Cakir.
Who is Ugurcan Cakir?
This is a name many Kopites will be familiar with by now.
24-year-old goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir is the first choice keeper at Trabzonspor and the Turkey national team.
The comparatively young goalie has been linked with all and sundry in the past year.
This week the Reds reportedly scouted him as he kept a clean sheet against Erling Haaland.
The youngster is third in the clean sheet table in the Turkish top flight having shut out the opposition on 10 occasions this term.
Liverpool preparing Ugurcan Cakir bid
Liverpool have been linked with Ugurcan Cakir for some time now.
The first rumours first emerged last year and they still persist.
The links have intensified with Sabah claiming that Liverpool are preparing a £15m bid for Ugurcan Cakir.
Man City are allegedly also in the race for the youngster but it appears that if anybody is moving for him the Reds have stolen a march.
What RTK has to say
Liverpool signing Ugurcan Cakir would satisfy Emile Heskey.
The Reds’ icon told us that the club need to sign competition for Alisson Becker.
The arrival of the young Turkish keeper would give the Brazilian a little nudge and could keep him on the top of his game.
We aren’t convinced that this rumour has any truth to it but a new keeper arriving to keep pushing the Holy Goalie.
