'So excited': Some Liverpool fans are hyped Diogo Jota goals for Portugal

Some Liverpool fans reacted with glee after Diogo Jota grabbed a couple of goals for Portugal on Saturday. The forward gave everyone something to shout about.

Diogo Jota has been in some fine form on his return from injury. He created Liverpool’s opener against RB Leipzig, then followed it up with a winner against Wolves.

It’s exactly what Liverpool needed, too, after their wretched goal scoring form in 2021. The Reds have consistently failed to find the net, scoring just one Anfield goal since the turn of the year.

But Jota, who has only played a few games since early December, looks like he can fix things. And he gave further evidence of that with his display on Saturday evening.

Jota started for Portugal away at Serbia and left the pitch with both of his country’s goals. The Liverpool man had his side 2-0 up at half-time, although a second-half collapse meant the game finished 2-2.

Still, the takeaway from a Red point of view is that Jota has an eye for goal. He scored two headers for his brace, with both great little finishes.

And that got fans talking on Twitter. After months of attacking struggles, Jota is making people believe in a late-season resurgance.

Fans react to Jota

That fan is certainly right about Jota’s value. Liverpool paid £41m for him but they wouldn’t even consider selling for that price now.

We don’t know exactly what he’s worth – it’s hard to tell in the current market – though, we know he’s worth at least 50 per cent more. A 24-year-old scoring like he is?

They’re not exactly cheap.

We’re very excited about Jota right now, like everyone else. Hopefully, he can help the late push for success this season. He’s exactly what we needed.
