Ian Wright thinks Liverpool have a winning combination in Thiago and Fabinho

Ian Wright believes Jurgen Klopp is finally getting to reap the rewards of his ‘dream’ midfield partnership at Liverpool.

Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara had played together just once before the former returned from a muscle injury earlier this month.

Liverpool’s unprecedented injury crisis this season has meant that Fabinho has been regularly utilised in defence.

Meanwhile, Thiago, 29, has been forced to adapt to constant midfield tweaks from the Liverpool boss, who finally looks to have found a sustainable solution.

The reinstatement of Brazil international Fabinho has seen a dramatic improvement on the pitch for Liverpool.

In fact, in their previous two matches, Klopp’s team have claimed vital victories against RB Leipzig and Wolverhampton Wanderers, registering two clean sheets in the process.

And Wright thinks that Klopp could have uncovered a winning formula by combining the talents of Thiago and Fabinho in the middle of the park.

“To see Fabinho and Thiago in the midfield is something he would have been dreaming off Jurgen Klopp and now it’s finally happening,” he said, per the Kelly and Wrighty Show.

“Hopefully that will be enough to trigger the front guys.”

What RTK has to say

There’s nothing quite like a player who is so good that he elevates the performances of those around him. That’s Fabinho in a nutshell, though, and his return could not have had a more positive impact.

This could be a hugely significant moment, then, in Thiago’s tenure as a Liverpool player. The Spaniard looked so much more at home with Fabinho alongside him – something he’d only had once before (Everton, away).

All in all, the decision to move Fabinho back into his natural position was long in the making. Hopefully, Klopp persists with the winning formula that has proven to have a transformative impact on the team.
