Liverpool are just one step from finding out the future for Gini Wijnaldum. The Dutchman’s contract expires this summer.
This comes from Sport. They claim that Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum nears a decision on his future.
In truth, he’s already made his decision. They say he’s agreed to a contract with Barcelona and their ratification is all that’s left.
It’s not completely straightforward, though. The Catalonians aren’t in the strongest financial position and there remains a chance that they’ll have to back out.
After all, there’s a reason we’ve waited this long for an answer. The club needed to elect a new president, go over the finances, and put a plan in place before agreeing to any new players.

They do have a verbal agreement with Wijnaldum, however, and that is a very strong suggestion that he’s off there. If Barcelona want him, he’s theirs.
What RTK has to say
We have just the tiniest slither of hope that Wijnaldum remains at Liverpool. But it’s really just a token hope, now.
He’s almost certainly off to Barcelona as it’s difficult to imagine the two parties getting this far and then calling things off. All that’s left is confirmation, after all – they’ve agreed to terms.
And really, we’ll be glad when it’s all over. This saga has run and run and run since last summer.
We expected Liverpool to sell him before his contract expired but, instead, they opted for a final season. It turns out that was absolutely the right choice, given the injury crisis.
But it also meant this was a very likely scenario – losing a star player for absolutely nothing to a Champions League threat.
Now it’s time to focus on a replacement. It won’t be easy but represents one of the most important jobs of the summer.
