Liverpool are going to have to act decisively in the transfer market this summer. The Reds have problems a plenty to solve. One of the most glaring issues is the lack of goals since Christmas. Liverpool could well win the race for Kylian Mbappe after claims that Real Madrid couldn’t afford a move for Harry Kane.
Liverpool need a striker
Since Christmas the goals have dried up at Anfield.
The Reds have failed to hit the heights expected of them on the front foot and this has confirmed what we all feared for some time: we need a new striker.
Roberto Firmino has served us well but given the type of defence we’re coming up against these days there’s no getting away from the fact that we need a more lethal finisher up top.
Ramon Calderon on Real Madrid
Whoever the Reds go after this summer they’re likely to face competition from Europe’s elite.
According to former club president Ramon Calderon, Real Madrid may not be in a financial position to do any big business, the Spaniard told talkSPORT:
“They are always rumours at this time of the season. They are talking about Mbappe, Haaland… too many players.
“We are not in the best form economically-speaking because we are refurbishing our stadium spending a lot of money.
“It will be difficult to spend money in the summer.”
Liverpool could have Kylian Mbappe advantage
This could be a big indicator of the Reds’ chances in the market.
For a while Liverpool have been linked with Kylian Mbappe but they’ve always been seen in competition with Real Madrid.
Should Los Blancos be unable to afford any big moves this summer then Liverpool could have a clear run at Mbappe.
