Gini Wijnaldum departure

This summer is sure to spell the end of Gini Wijnaldum’s stay at Liverpool.

The Dutchman, signed from Newcastle United in 2016, has become a key part of the side during his five year stint at Anfield.

His contract expires in the summer and the Reds have failed to agree to terms on an extension for the middleman.

Given his importance to the side we expect a replacement to be signed over the summer.

Liverpool linked with Aaron Ramsey

Just which direction the club goes with his replacement is anybody’s guess.

Raphinha, Coutinho and Tielemans: The signings Liverpool could make this summer

They could go for youth and potential or experience and pedigree.

Calciomercato has linked Liverpool with a move for Aaron Ramsey.

The 30-year-old midfielder is currently a rotation option at Juventus, starting just 12 games in the Serie A this season and making six appearances from the bench.

West Ham are also said to be interested in the Wales international.

The links don’t make any sense to us and are likely just rubbish.

The Reds have decided against giving Gini Wijnaldum a deserved pay rise due to his age, the club can’t guarantee he’ll still be a regular starter in a couple of year’s time.

To replace him with a player of the same age would make no sense at all.

Twitter reacts to rumour

There are a couple of fans attracted by the player’s ability, though the move may be a few years too late.

In general fans don’t think it would be a wise move.
