Paulo Dybala might be the player Liverpool are after. The Reds reportedly want a new attacker.
The Athletic claims Liverpool are prioritising a new forward this summer. It’s what Jurgen Klopp wants above anything else.
But he wants something in particular – a supplement to the current forwards. That is, someone who brings something different, rather than a replacement.
It effectively rules out a true superstar like Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland. But it could still mean a top player arrives – they’ve just got to be flexible.
With that in mind, Paulo Dybala might be the player Liverpool need.

The Daily Star claims Dybala is available this summer. He’d cost at least £40m, they say, and both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are potential destinations.
And we think Liverpool should get involved. We’ve talked before about him being a risk worth taking and we stand by that.
In fact, the Athletic’s report makes us even more certain of it. Dybala is a great supplement to the current stars because Liverpool don’t have anyone like him.
The Argentine can make magic happen out of nowhere. He’s a fantastically technical player, both in creating and scoring goals. That ability to fashion a chance from nothing doesn’t really exist at Liverpool.
The current forwards are a little more functional, rather than magical. They do that expertly – as proven with their trophy haul – but it leaves room for someone like Dybala.
Dybala can play as a centre-forward or a no.10. He can play wide-right at a push, too, making him flexible enough to play with anyone else.
The dream would be a Phillipe Coutinho-type player who is a more natural forward. Coutinho’s biggest problem was always how he fit in. Dybala shouldn’t have that problem.
Most of all, though, the decision to not replace any forwards tells us that Liverpool and Klopp want an immediate title challenge. They believe this squad has more trophies in them.
Dybala – a multi-time title winner and a player in his prime – allows for that. If Liverpool can get it done, we don’t think there’s a better option for what they want.
