Liverpool are expected to be hard at work this summer rebuilding the squad. The Reds have had the lack of depth in the side thoroughly exposed this season due to a string of unfortunate injuries. Given the impending departure of Gini Wijnaldum we’ll need to bring in a midfielder. Liverpool have been linked with Yves Bissouma in the past, Brighton playing Newcastle United this weekend could be crucial to the pursuit.

Gini Wijnaldum leaving
This summer will surely see an end to Gini Wijnaldum’s time at Anfield.
The Dutch midfielder has been with the club since 2016 and he has established himself as a modern day icon during his stay.
He has scored huge goals, including a brace in that comeback against Barcelona.
He has also earned the loyalty of fans with his relentless pressing and phenomenal shielding of the ball.
The 30-year-old’s contract expires in the summer and no new deal appears to be forthcoming. The midfielder understandably wants a pay rise and the club are wary of investing so much money in a player who may not be a regular in a couple of years time.
Liverpool target Yves Bissouma
Such a presence in the middle will need replacing.
The rumour mill has been hard at working coming up with potential arrivals.
In recent months ESPN have linked Liverpool with a move for Yves Bissouma.
The Brighton star has been something of a general in the middle for Graham Potter, breaking up play and using the ball well.
The Malian midfielder has started 25 games for the Seagulls this term, emphasising his importance to the side.
Brighton v Newcastle United
On Saturday night there is a huge game in the Premier League.
Brighton host Newcastle United in a relegation six pointer.
The South Coast side are just three points clear of the drop, a point ahead of the Magpies.
A defeat for Potter’s side would leave Scott Parker’s resurgent Cottagers able to draw level on points in the coming weeks.
Should Brighton go down this season then Liverpool would have an easier run at Yves Bissouma.
The player would surely want to remain in the Premier League and the Seagulls would need to raise funds. A Newcastle win this weekend could be massive for our summer transfer plans.
