Liverpool haven’t had their best season, there’s no getting away from that. The Reds are going to have to address some core issues over the summer. With plenty of business to do, Simon Hughes of The Athletic has shed some light on the plans for the window, saying Liverpool are looking at signing a striker.
This season has been one defined by injuries in the squad.
Although a majority of the problems have been concentrated to the back four, the centre back role in particular, the entire squad has been impacted.
The ripple effects of the centre back crisis has caused the goals to dry up and this is something which needs addressing.
We need reliability at the back, creativity in the middle and a lethal touch up top.

Liverpool want a striker
There is plenty of business to be done this summer.
Given the club’s recent history in the transfer market we don’t expect massive spends throughout the squad.
If there’s going to be a large outlay it may well be focused on one position.
According to Simon Hughes, Liverpool want a striker. The Athletic journalist told the Red Agenda Podcast:
“From what I’ve been told, that’s something that Liverpool are looking at in the summer [signing an attacker], the one area they do want to improve on. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did find a buyer for (Divock) Origi and another forward came in.
“It’ll be interesting to see who they go for.”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool signing a striker is essential.
Fingers crossed the club decides to make a move similar to the ones we saw for Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker – a real statement, a massive upgrade.
Kylian Mbappe is the dream, Erling Haaland is another fantasy.
