Nat Phillips hailed the impact of Fabinho on the team. The 23-year-old says things are ‘much easier’ with the Brazilian around.
Fabinho impressed everyone this week. He returned to the starting lineup in midfield and just like that, the team look better.
The defence was more solid, the midfield more cohesive, and Liverpool have more control. It was a fantastic decision from Jurgen Klopp.
But don’t just take our word for it. Nat Phillips says Fabinho made everything ‘so much easier’ with his performance.
“It made our [the centre-backs] life so much easier having [Fabinho] back in front of us just hoovering everything up,” he told SportBible.

“There were so many occasions where the ball looks like it’s heading to the striker’s feet. You’re getting yourself set, thinking ‘I’m going to have to deal with this one, here’.
“And he just flies straight across the front of you, sticks his long leg out and deals with it.”
What RTK has to say
There’s nothing quite like a player who is so good that he makes the rest of his teammates look better, too. That’s Fabinho, though, and we saw it on Wednesday.
Phillips was a fine example of that. He was great in the game and Fabinho was a huge part of that, simplifying his job and easing the pressure on him.
It could be huge for Phillips’ Liverpool career, in fact. Having Fabinho there means his job is easier and thus he’s far more likely to deliver what the Reds need.
But he’s not the only one. Thiago, too, looked much more at home with Fabinho in midfield with him – something he’d only had once before.
All in all, the decision to move Fabinho into midfield was a hugely positive one. Hopefully, Klopp persists as it appears to have a transformative effect on the entire team.
