FSG need to break from tradition and spend big on Liverpool transfers

Liverpool have been struggling this season and it is obvious why: a lack of depth. The Reds need a major overhaul of the backup brigade this season as well as serious investment in a lethal finisher. FSG need to break from their tradition and spend big on Liverpool transfers this summer.

Disastrous season for Liverpool

This season has been nothing short of a disaster for the Reds.

Jürgen Klopp has fallen victim to the worst injury crisis the division has seen.

Even our backup backups have been ruled out for weeks at a time.

The lack of depth in the squad has been a core issue for the side.

There has been an enormous drop off in quality when players have been injured or moved out of position – this is one problem we need to address.

A further issue is the lack of a lethal, natural goalscorer up top. It’s time to upgrade our starting number 9.

This will be an expensive rebuild.

The owners have ruled out a sweeping overhaul but they’re going to have to reconsider.

Our less reliable players and our lesser quality backups need to be replaced.

A lethal striker won’t cost a pittance, we’ll have to stump up a significant amount of cash for the right man.

Break from FSG tradition

The owners have always worked towards a low net spend. This approach simply won’t work this summer.

We won’t be able to raise significant sums getting rid of deadwood because clubs the game over are skint due to the financial impact of the pandemic.

FSG are going to have to bite the bullet and just splash the cash.

This will be the only summer when we have to do it but do it we must.

One big window will set us up well for the next few seasons, during which time we can move back to a sell to buy model.

Just this one window, FSG. We need you to come through.
