Liverpool like the look of Angelo Gabriel, according to reports. He’s the latest teenager to break through at Santos.
This comes directly from Sport Witness. Claiming an exclusive, they say Liverpool want Angelo Gabriel.
The Reds want to ‘get in early’ for the teenager – something Real Madrid also hope to achieve. Gabriel is still only 16, having made his senior debut at just 15.
But Santos now have a reputation for selling their stars when they’re young. Gabriel would be the latest to follow the Robinho and Neymar example.
Or, for a more recent comparison, Rodrygo.
The winger left Santos for Real Madrid, costing Los Blancos around £38m for a very inexperienced teenager. Their hope – much like with Vinicius Jr – is to save money on an inevitable superstar.
Liverpool have the same idea, it seems. Not that Gabriel would be cheap. The report stats he has a £51m release clause and a contract with over two years left to run.

Massive pinch of salt with this one. Do we believe Liverpool know about Gabriel? Absolutely. Do we think they’re getting ready to bid? No.
Real may want to take a chance on these kids but it’s an enormous risk that will rarely come off. There have been dozens and dozens of hugely-hyped teenagers from Brazil that didn’t live up to their potential.
We can turn to another Santos forward as an example. Gabriel Barbosa carried a fantastic reputation when he joined Internazionale in 2016.
But he didn’t cut it in Italy, nor on loan in Portugal. Gabigol is now back in Brazil and while he’s now flying, he wasn’t ready at the time.
Paying a fortune for teenagers who may or may not be good just isn’t a reliable way to build a team. There’s talk in Spain that Real could move on Rodrygo, in fact – there’s no better sign that these transfers are a risk.
And while Liverpool may have their eye on the teenager, we just can’t imagine them taking that risk.
