Liverpool do hold an interest in Erling Haaland, according to reports. However, their poor form could cost them their shot.
This comes from ESPN. They say that while Liverpool are hurting a little financially, they do have interest in Erling Haaland.
They’re one of many, many teams to hold that interest, of course. The report mentions every top team in Europe as wanting the Norwegian.
But Liverpool also appear the most-likely to bow out of the race. Their current form is bad enough that Champions League football seems unlikely next season.
That would end their hopes of snatching Haaland, it seems.

The player should move this summer as Borussia Dortmund attempt to cash-in. Haaland has a £65m release clause in 2022, while the Germans feel they could get around double that in 2021.
The timing is terrible for Liverpool, however. One year either side and they would fancy their chances. As it is, Haaland’s availability comes at the worst time.
What RTK has to say
Haaland is incredible. He has 27 goals across the Bundesliga and Champions League already this season – he’s only 20!
But Liverpool probably have to look elsewhere. That’s the problem with a historically bad run of form.
Not that finishing top four is impossible but right now? We don’t see it happening. Liverpool would need to end their troubles immediately and win for the rest of the season.
But Sunday’s game suggested that point isn’t close. We’re almost certainly looking at a season outside of the Champions League and that will affect transfer plans.
Haaland and Kylian Mbappe aren’t going to join clubs who are outside of Europe’s elite competition. Not when they have so many options to pick from.
But we will say that this is far from the end of the world. Would signing a superstar be wonderful? Of course. Liverpool, though, built their current success without such a signing.
They built their team piece by piece with calculated risks and we expect them to do it again.
