Liverpool are expected to move for a centre back in the summer transfer window. The Reds’ defensive woes are well documented with just about every centre back ever associated with the club needing to head to A&E. Liverpool need to focus on Raphael Varane and forget Kalidou Koulibaly.
Liverpool need a centre back
The need for a defensive signing in the summer is plainly obvious.
The Reds have lost player after player to injury this season.
Virgil van Dijk was the first casualty with Joe Gomez not far behind.
Joel Matip was ruled out for the season in January.
We need quality and reliability at the back, we can’t have a repeat of this next season.
Ideally, the Reds need a top class centre back to come in and partner Van Dijk without either getting injured.
Liverpool linked with Kalidou Koulibaly
The past saw fresh links between Liverpool and Kalidou Kouliably.
The Reds have been rumoured to be in for the centre back since the dawn of time.
The 29-year-old Senegalese centre back is still at Napoli despite persistent links with a move to a top European side.
Christian Falk has claimed Liverpool are still interested in Koulibaly and could rival Bayern Munich for his signature.
Liverpool should focus on Raphael Varane
The Reds need to turn elsewhere for a centre back.
Liverpool should focus on signing Raphael Varane if the defender is available.
The Frenchman is a machine; he is rapid, strong and good on the ball. He would slot perfectly into the Reds’ high line.
AS last week claimed Liverpool could sign Raphael Varane for as little as £60m with Real Madrid looking to avoid losing him on a free next summer.
He’s two years younger than Koulibaly and only going to get better; he should be the obvious choice.
