Liverpool don’t have the transfer budget you’d expect, according to reports. The Reds are gearing up for a big summer.
This comes from Eurosport. They cite sources claiming Liverpool don’t have a usual transfer budget this summer.
Unfortunately, it’s not for good reasons. Liverpool, they say, don’t have the usual budget of a team with their success. They have less available.
For that reason, the report effectively rules them out of signing someone like Kylian Mbappe. They don’t have the money to pull that one off, even if he wanted to move to Anfield.
It sounds as though Liverpool must be inventive this summer if they want to improve.
What RTK has to say
Hardly what we want to hear. Liverpool’s torrid season means they must make some sort of changes in the summer, after all.
There are squad players with real doubts over their quality, first-teamers who aren’t delivering, and just an overwhelming need to kick on.
And that’s before we get to the squad’s overall age. Most stars will turn 30 within the next two years – and that’s a real problem.
It means Liverpool need young talent ASAP but those players aren’t cheap. And if they don’t have the budget to secure top players, they have two options.
Firstly, they could look in a lesser market. Try and find the players the elite clubs aren’t considering and pounce. Most of this current side was built that way, after all.

Secondly, they could sell a star or two and go from there. It’s what catapulted them into Europe’s elite in the first place as they used the Philippe Coutinho money so well.
So in a lot of ways, Liverpool’s budget is exactly what we would expect. They’ll have to build their squad the same way they always have.
That resulted in overwhelming success once before and, hopefully, they can do it again.
