Liverpool can’t catch a break this season. The Reds have lost players consistently throughout the campaign with illness, injury and tragedy impacting squad selection. As we head into the international break, Jürgen Klopp has admitted he’s concerned about losing players to quarantine rules.

Liverpool selection woes
Back in October we should’ve known something was up.
We must’ve angered a pretty spiteful God by winning the league last season.
In October Virgil van Dijk was ruled out for the campaign with a ruptured ACL, Joe Gomez followed him out just a couple of weeks later.
Since then players have been in and out of the side due to illness and injury – summer signing Thiago missed a couple of months, as has fellow signing Diogo Jota.
Now the boss is worried about losing players to quarantine rules.
Jürgen Klopp quarantine concerns
The international break is coming up and that poses problems.
Some Liverpool players would be called up to travel to countries on a ‘red list’.
This means that when they return they’d be required to quarantine for a period, meaning they’d be unavailable for some games.
When asked about the upcoming issue, Jürgen Klopp admitted he’s worried about potential quarantines – telling a pre-match press conference:
“We are concerned yes. Having more info would be great. FIFA was clear that we didn’t have to let the players go and all the clubs agree that we cannot just let them go and sort it when they’re back. Not possible.”
What RTK has to say
The last thing Jürgen Klopp needs is players in quarantine.
We expect that if this were to be an issue the players won’t be released by the club.
Given the season we’ve had we can’t afford to lose more players and especially not because of international duty.
Joe Gomez was ruled out for the season after reporting for international duty, once bitten, twice shy.
