This season has been a strange one for Liverpool. The Reds have been devastated by injuries and they’ve seen the goals dry up as well. It has been a tough watch since Christmas but we’re optimistic a strong summer transfer window will turn things around. In an exclusive interview with Rousing the Kop, Emile Heskey told us he believes Roberto Firmino needs to be replaced as our starting striker.
This has almost certainly been Roberto Firmino’s most disappointing season as a Liverpool player.
The Brazilian has been consistently wasteful in front of goal and this has led to the side dropping points.
He doesn’t appear confident at all in front of goal, we saw against Sheffield United that he opted to square the ball when it fell to him on the six yard box.
Consistently facing low blocks has also limited the forward’s creative output, leading many to question whether it’s time for a change.

Emile Heskey on Roberto Firmino
We caught up with Anfield icon Emile Heskey to get his thoughts on Roberto Firmino.
The ex-England striker believes the Brazilian still has a role to play at the club but it is time to bring in an out and out striker to bury these chances we keep creating. Speaking exclusively to Rousing the Kop, Heskey said:
“There was a time when we were speaking and I said that they should bring [Firmino] out of the firing line, let him relax a little bit, let him watch from the sideline, let him get his confidence back up and they did that. He slowly started to improve.
“Now I’m thinking they need to look for someone else and he should be second choice. I think he would be great to be dipping in every other game.
“For Liverpool they need someone who’s going to get them 15-20 goals a season, every season. I think it’s time for him to take a backseat now.”
What RTK has to say
Emile Heskey is right about Roberto Firmino.
It is time to make a change. We can’t keep wasting chances.
The Brazilian will be vital to us off the bench and in games where we’ll have to defend from the front.
This summer should hopefully see a new forward arrive to bring goals to the attack, it’s been a barren few months.
