Liverpool have been dreadfully unlucky with injuries this season. The Reds have suffered more injuries than any other Premier League side, perhaps more than any other top side in Europe. Thankfully some of our most notable absentees are edging close to returning. Some Liverpool fans have reacted to news that Diogo Jota could return against Chelsea.
Diogo Jota absence
Few injuries this season have been more frustrating than Diogo Jota’s.
The £41m summer signing was a leading light for the Reds in the opening months of the campaign.
He came up with the goods when needed and even netted a hattrick in the Champions League, putting Atalanta to the sword in their own back yard.
In December the Portuguese star was played in a dead rubber tie away at FC Midtjylland. The Reds were already confirmed as group winners and the Danes as the bottom side.
Just moments before being substituted Jota picked up a knee injury and he hasn’t played since.
Diogo Jota could return v Chelsea
This weekend the Reds beat Sheffield United 2-0 at Bramall Lane.
Liverpool were expected to name their Portuguese forward on the bench for the game but he was ruled out due to illness.
He apparently travelled with the squad but became ill in the hotel the night before.
Speaking after the game Jürgen Klopp confirmed that Diogo Jota should be ok to return against Chelsea in midweek.
This comes as a massive boost in what promises to be a real six pointer in the race for the top four.
