Liverpool have had more than their fair share of availability issues this season. We’ve had to make use of near enough the entire squad as players are in and out for various reasons. Last weekend we saw our Spanish keeper start in goal. Jürgen Klopp has since confirmed that Adrian is third choice at the moment.
Liverpool beat Sheffield United
This weekend the Reds simply had to win.
Jürgen Klopp’s side had been defeated four games in a row in the Premier League, failing to beat the division’s bottom club would’ve been a disaster.
Liverpool thankfully did the business at Bramall Lane.
Curtis Jones opened the scoring early on in the second half after the Reds dominated the first period.

Roberto Firmino’s deflected effort doubled the lead and put the game to bed.
Overall the hosts didn’t particularly threaten but the goalkeeper had to make a couple of stops.
Adrian was called into action for the game after Alisson Becker was left out of the squad on compassionate grounds.
Jürgen Klopp on Adrian role
Speaking after this weekend’s win against Sheffield United, Jürgen Klopp was full of praise for Adrian.
The boss was impressed with the Spaniard’s performance but he did confirm that Caoimhin Kelleher has edged ahead in the pecking order, the Liverpool ECHO quote the boss as saying:
“I’m so happy for him, he deserves that. He showed pure class and top character. He showed all his personality, top, top, top, top!
“If you want, he is now number three (goalkeeper) but in the dressing room you will never see any difference.”
What RTK has to say
Quite a few Liverpool fans will be pleased to hear Jürgen Klopp confirm Adrian is third choice.
We aren’t particularly bothered. He performed well for the most part at the weekend.
Sure he’s made some horrendous errors in the past but if the coaching staff have faith in him then we do too.
