Chelsea receive Thiago Silva injury boost ahead of Liverpool clash

Thiago Silva is over his injury and back in training for Chelsea. The Brazilian has missed several games.

Chelsea got a boost on Tuesday as Thiago Silva returned to training after an injury. He’d picked it up on February 4th against Tottenham Hotspur.

The hamstring strain kept him out for six Chelsea matches, including four Premier League games and their Champions League fixture vs Atletico Madrid.

Silva is back now, though, and that leaves Chelsea injury-free, according to the Athletic. Thomas Tuchel will have a full squad at his disposal.

What RTK has to say

Well it’s a shame from a Liverpool point of view. Silva can be a key player for Chelsea at Anfield.

Especially as he’s the defender who knows Tuchel’s style best. He played for him at Paris Saint-Germain and you can imagine the German wants him leading the defence.

Liverpool could have done without that in what is a huge game for both sides.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

This will have a great impact on the top-four race, after all. Liverpool and Chelsea started the season with title aspirations but various issues leave both fighting for a Champions League spot.

With that in mind, we’d prefer if the Blues were battling a crisis of some sorts. Just to even the playing field, you know?

Instead, Liverpool will have a host of injuries to deal with. Chelsea won’t have any.

We’ll still back Liverpool to win, of course. They did look much better against Sheffield United – mind, everyone does – but more importantly, Diogo Jota and Fabinho could be available.

Both would drastically improve the side. Add the recent returns of James Milner and Naby Keita, and it seems Liverpool’s crisis is easing a little.

There will still be huge questions over the Reds’ defence, though. Unfortunately, the return of Silva means we can’t say the same about Chelsea.
