Liverpool are expected to make a number of signings in the summer transfer window. The Reds will surely add some quality in depth to the squad whilst they will also look to offload some deadwood. One man in the Bundesliga keeps being touted as a potential arrival. According to Bild, Borussia Dortmund may have opened the door to Liverpool signing Florian Neuhaus.

Liverpool need depth

This season has exposed a startling lack of squad depth at the club.

Sure, the side have been utterly ravaged by injuries but the backup brigade have failed to step up.

The Reds are expected to move on some of these players and invest in more quality for the bench.

We need more reliability more than anything. We can’t keep folding like a hosue of cards due to constant injury lay offs.

Liverpool interest in Florian Neuhaus

Whilst centre back and centre forward are the two areas in most glaring need of reinforcements, the centre of midfield could also do with bolstering.

Gini Wijnaldum is expected to leave the club in the summer having failed to agree a new contract.

The Dutchman’s dynamism in the middle will need replacing.

According to Bild, Liverpool are targeting Florian Neuhaus.

The Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder has a release clause of around £35m.

He has been having an impressive season which would usually attract the attention of the Bundesliga’s biggest clubs.

However, according to Bild, Bayern Munich can’t offer him what he wants and Borussia Dortmund won’t pursue him as they’ve already poached manager Marco Rose from Monchengladbach.

What RTK has to say

Liverpool signing Florian Neuhaus makes plenty of sense given his age – he’s just 23-years-old – and his overall playing style.

Borussia Dortmund resigning from the race is a big boost for the Reds.

Not having to compete with the giants of the Bundesliga is always a bonus in a transfer tug of war like this – Bayern Munich in particular seem to hoover up all of the division’s top talents.

We’ll be watching this space – the rumours appear to be gathering pace.
