Liverpool have been in torrid form since Christmas. The Reds have gone from top of the table to fighting for a Champions League place. Injuries are certainly to blame but some players are starting to return to fitness. James Pearce has backed Diogo Jota to be crucial to the side’s top four hopes.
Diogo Jota injury
This season has been defined by the Liverpool injury list.
The Reds have seen players miss more games than any other side.
Whilst the centre of defence has been worst hit we’ve also seen absences in other areas of the pitch.
Diogo Jota hasn’t featured since December after picking up a knee injury against Midtjylland in the Champions League.

The injury was a particularly frustrating one given that it was sustained during a dead rubber tie with the Danish side.
The Portuguese star has now returned to full training and could well feature against Sheffield United tonight.
James Pearce on Diogo Jota
The Reds have been goal shy in recent weeks.
Their summer signing returning to the fold could turn things around.
James Pearce has emphasised how important Diogo Jota could be for Liverpool, telling SkySports:
“Getting Jota back is going to be huge because Roberto Firmino has really struggled and Klopp hasn’t been able to rotate that front line.
“That injection of quality and energy and dynamism that Jota will give Liverpool…the gap at the moment is five points to fourth, this Liverpool team still has enough quality there.”
What RTK has to say
James Pearce isn’t the only one counting on Diogo Jota.
Just about every Kopite out there is expecting him to help us turn things around.
We can’t expect him to do it alone but hopefully he has enough to spark the attack back into life.
