Report: Rafa Benitez wants Liverpool job when club is in 'proper crisis'

Liverpool are in a real mess at the moment and we can’t really blame the manager. The Reds have just been terribly unlucky with injuries. The lack of quality in depth in the squad has been exposed and the side have slipped down the table as a result. According to Guillem Balague, Rafa Benitez wants to return to the Liverpool job when the club are in crisis; this just isn’t a big enough crisis yet.

Plain bad luck

This season will be defined by the Liverpool injury list.

The Reds lost their talismanic centre back for the season as early as October.

The rest of the centre back roster have also been ruled out for the duration.

Players have been run into the ground and played out of position.

This has led to a lack of goals and a defensive frailty which is being constantly exposed.

Rafa Benitez wants Liverpool job

Jürgen Klopp isn’t under pressure.

Nobody blames him for the side’s poor form, it’s a miracle we held out as long as we did.

This isn’t a proper crisis. According to Guillem Balague, Rafa Benitez wants to return to the Liverpool job when the club is in a proper crisis. He told his YouTube channel:

“There is a feeling of unfinished business with Rafa and Liverpool, I’ve always said that,

“Rafa would love to be the Liverpool manager at some point. Maybe in a time of crisis, proper crisis, not what’s happening now.

“Maybe in a time where there’s a need for a strong personality to steady a ship. But right now in the way that the owners are behaving and Klopp and everything, that situation doesn’t exist.

“How can we think that Klopp has reached the end of an era? Look at the bigger picture, how can anyone suggest that?

“It’s laughable. It’s stupid and absurd to be talking about a future without Klopp.”

What RTK has to say

Hopefully it never comes to it.

However, if we were in real trouble it would be great to see Rafa Benitez back at Liverpool.

He is a modern day icon. He gave us our fifth European Cup.

He is always welcome back, thankfully we just don’t need him at the moment.
