Renato Sanches is destined for a transfer to Liverpool, according to reports. The 23-year-old could arrive this summer.
This comes from CalcioMercato in Italy. They claim that several clubs in Italy would like to sign Renato Sanches but he’s ‘destined’ for a Liverpool transfer.
Liverpool would be taking advantage of a fire-sale at Lille. CalcioMercato actually names them twice, once for Sanches and another time as potential suitors for Sven Botman.
They’ll have to battle Tottenham Hotspur for Botman, however.
Sanches, though, could well be on his way to Anfield. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that, either.
Fabrizio Romano has Sanches down as a major Liverpool target, too. It’s something he’s mentioned several times.
There might just be something in this one, then.
What RTK has to say
We’d need to know the price on this one to be fully behind but in theory, this would be a really interesting move. Sanches may have been a flop for a couple of teams but he’s still got enormous potential.
He’s a former Golden Boy winner, for one. But few players have his level of technique and physicality – it gives any club a lot to work with.

And with Gini Wijnaldum potentially leaving at the end of the season, it makes sense. Sanches could come in as a reasonably versatile midfielder, which is exactly what Liverpool would need.
And at 23, he has plenty of room to grow. The club has shown a real knack for moving players up a level in recent years and Sanches certainly has levels to go.
After disappointing spells with Bayern Munich and Swansea City, Sanches has found himself again at Lille. Liverpool, then, must be hoping that’s a sign that the one-time Golden Boy still has plenty to give.
