Liverpool have been struggling this season and injuries are at the crux of the matter. The summer window will surely see more depth added throughout the squad. One reported target had a strong showing this week. Liverpool linked Florian Neuhaus put in a strong defensive display against Man City; showing his worth to the Reds.
Lack of depth
Even though the centre of defence has been worst hit we’ve seen our best midfielders have to drop into the back four as a result; exposing the lack of depth in the middle.
Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have spent most of the season in the back four.
This has shackled the rest of the midfield, not allowing Thiago to move into the areas we want him in.
Players are being asked to fulfil more unfamiliar roles, for instance Gini Wijnaldum is having to play in a holding role more often than wanted.

Liverpool linked with Florian Neuhaus
There are a number of players being linked with a switch to Anfield as the press guesses away at who will bolster the midfield.
Kicker last week claimed Liverpool were looking into a deal for Florian Neuhaus from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Sport 1 believe that he would cost the Reds something close to £36m.
Neuhaus v Man City
This week Borussia Monchengladbach hosted Manchester City in the Champions League.
The German midfielder had a strong showing against Pep Guardiola’s side.
He made seven tackles in total, more than any Liverpool player managed in their tie with Man City weeks ago.
He also made two interceptions against the Citizens.
Given that the Reds are desperate for an industrious, combative midfielder to come in to replace Gini Wijnaldum and add some depth should Fabinho be re-enlisted in the backline, Liverpool can be pleased with how Florian Neuhaus played against Man City.
