Lucas Ocampos wants a transfer to Liverpool, according to reports. The Reds might just make an offer.
This comes from El Intransigente in Argentina. They claim that Sevilla’s Lucas Ocampos is in favour of a Liverpool transfer.
And the Reds are considering a move, too. There’s a £55m price-tag involved, though – we’re not talking about a cheap deal.
Nor are Liverpool the only ones involved. The report names both Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund as interested.
Technically, there is one more team ‘involved’. River Plate would see 3.5 per cent of any fee, as the team who developed Ocampos. That would be quite lucrative if anyone did pay £55m for the player.
But from the sounds of it, no move is close. Liverpool have their eye on things and Ocampos welcomes that.
We can imagine that the player is Anfield-bound the moment Liverpool make a move, then.
There is also a line that suggests Liverpool could use Takumi Minamino in any deal. It follows on from reports in Spain that Sevilla like the player.
Naturally, then, you can see how the two deals could happen alongside one another.
Exactly how much Minamino would be worth depends on his Southampton form. That Spanish report claimed around £8m – there’s no way his value stays that low if he continues scoring Premier League goals.
So that part of any transfer would come down to how much Sevilla like Minamino. Do they like him because they think he’s a great player? Or do they like him because he’s potentially cheap?
If it’s the latter, we can probably rule out using him to sign Ocampos. Minamino won’t stay cheap for long after two goals in three games.
If Liverpool want Ocampos, though, they could likely sell Minamino to fund it. Perhaps that’s the best option.
