Liverpool are surely set for an overhaul of the playing staff in the summer. If this season has taught us anything it is that we are in transition. The squad as it is is too injury prone, too fragile and too thin. A number of names have been rumoured, should Liverpool sign Florian Neuhaus then it would surely end Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s Anfield career.
Liverpool target Florian Neuhaus
Kicker recently claimed that Liverpool hold an interest in Florian Neuhaus of Borussia Monchengladbach.
Sport 1 believes that the midfielder would cost the Reds £36m.
Tribal Football have quoted Monchengladbach Sporting Director Max Ebrel’s displeasure at the rumours, the exec telling the press:
“If he will leave the club? With the best will in the world, I can’t imagine it. It’s nonsense, very simple.”
Who is Florian Neuhaus?
23-year-old Florian Neuhaus plays as a centre midfielder for Borussia Monchengladbach.
The German can play as a six or as an eight if needed.
This term he has made 19 starts and two sub appearances in the league, scoring four and assisting four along the way.
Neuhaus and Oxlade-Chamberlain
The Liverpool midfield is looking busy at the moment but not everybody can be relied upon.
Gini Wijnaldum seems set to leave at the end of the season but Curtis Jones appears to be his natural successor.
Should Liverpool sign Florian Neuhaus then that would surely spell the end for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The club can’t keep operating with such a large roster of midfielders when some of our most highly paid centre mids are persistently injured.
We need to start prioritising availability, reliability.
The Ox was brilliant for us when he first signed but he appears unable to get over that one nasty knee injury.
Neuhaus would be able to assume The Ox’s role in the squad and we could cash in on the ex-Arsenal man.
