Liverpool have been in stuttering form in recent weeks. The Reds have seen their title challenge evaporate and instead are now fighting for a place in the Champions League. The wheels were bound to come off eventually due to the amount of injuries in the side. Something has to change. Fabinho could be vital in the midfield for Liverpool but Jürgen Klopp has to show faith in Ben Davies.
We were top at Christmas. Once again, we tucked into our turkeys with the Reds flying high in the Premier League.
However, the Reds completely collapsed after Boxing Day.
For the first time in nearly a century Liverpool have lost four in a row at Anfield.
Jürgen Klopp’s side are now five points off the Champions League spots but have plenty of time to recover their place in the top four.
Injuries are undoubtedly to blame, the Reds need to rethink how they deal with them.
Fabinho in midfield
Liverpool haven’t played Fabinho in midfield in the league since the Merseyside Derby in October.
The Brazilian has been filling in at centre back in the absence of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.
His removal from the midfield has been incredibly noticeable.
We aren’t able to smother opposition the way we have done in recent seasons.
We haven’t been breaking down counter attacks, opposition are able to sustain possession in our half and they are creating more chances.
We need Fabby back in the midfield in order to stop our opponents being able to have these sights at goal.
Klopp needs to trust Davies
In order to return Fabinho to the midfield we need the boss to show some faith in our new signing.
Jürgen Klopp needs to trust Ben Davies alongside Ozan Kabak in the heart of the defence.
The duo arrived in January but haven’t played together yet, Davies is yet to make an appearance.
The boss having faith in the ex-Preston man could mean freeing up Fabby for his preferred role, one which we need him in.
It’s last roll of the dice time, something has to change – why not this?
