Liverpool have made contact for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, according to reports. The 23-year-old would be an Ozan Kabak alternative.
This comes from Sky Germany’s Max Bielefeld. He took to Twitter to claim that Liverpool were one of three clubs to have ‘been in touch’ over Nikola Milenkovic.
The others? Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United.
That suggests Liverpool might have a tough fight on their hands, should they go for the Serbian defender.
This backs up a recent report from Fiorentina News that La Viola wanted to sell Milenkovic this summer. They said that Liverpool were ‘in the foreground’ there, along with United.

What RTK has to say
We’re getting a little bit of traction, here. There might just be something in this.
We wouldn’t be shocked, either. Milenkovic has a great reputation in Serie A and if he’s available at a discount price, Liverpool likely would ask about him.
Make no mistake, though – he’d be an Ozan Kabak alternative.
Liverpool only have Kabak on loan, after all, and may not make his move permanent in the summer. If the Reds prefer someone else, they can allow Kabak to return to Schalke 04 and sign a different defender.
Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip will all remain at the club. Ben Davies is a permanent addition, too.
It makes little sense, then, to sign Kabak and a player like Milenkovic. That would leave Liverpool with at least six centre-halves, plus Fabinho as cover.
The defensive issues have been bad, of course, but we can’t imagine Liverpool would go so far in the opposite direction. They won’t need six centre-halves in the squad – they won’t even have room.
Milenkovic, then, would be in case they don’t like Kabak. It’s a very real possibility that they head in a new direction after this season.
