Borussia Dortmund reportedly want Nikola Milenkovic and that’s good news for Liverpool. The Reds could be in a bidding war.
Sky Germany’s Max Bielefeld claims that Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and Manchester United want Nikola Milenkovic. All three have asked about the player, in fact.
It follows a recent report from Fiorentina News. They believe that La Viola will try and sell Milenkovic this summer.
The player is up for grabs, then, and there’s a potential bidding war on the horizon. But Dortmund’s interest suggests it’s one Liverpool can win.
The BBC claims that Dortmund have serious financial problems. So serious that they’re planning to sell Jadon Sancho.
It might get worse – failure to qualify for the Champions League could mean selling Erling Haaland among others.
They won’t be spending a lot of money this summer, then.
If Milenkovic is on their list – and high enough that they’re in contact over him – then he can’t possible command a huge price. Advantage Liverpool, surely.
We know the Reds have at least a little money to spend. They have an option to buy Ozan Kabak for £18m, for one, so we can safely assume they have that much.
On top of that, they could bring in a lot of money through sales.
Liverpool, then, should have no real trouble when it comes to a bidding war against Dortmund. The price is clearly low enough to even get the Germans’ interest.
United would be a different challenge, of course. They’ll have more money available than Dortmund.
But again, Dortmund believing they have a chance tells us that this isn’t a race that would get out of hand. Milenkovic appears to be available for a reasonable price.
That certainly explains Liverpool’s interest. A 23-year-old Serie A defender with years of experience – the Reds will want that for a reasonable price.
