Liverpool still want David Alaba despite a verbal agreement elsewhere, according to reports. The Reds won’t give up on this one.
This comes from ESPN. They claim that David Alaba has a verbal agreement with Real Madrid over a summer move.
Alaba, of course, will leave Bayern Munich this summer at the end of his contract. It leaves him free to negotiate with non-German teams.
Liverpool are one of those and they, along with Chelsea, apparently push the hardest to convince him – despite that Real agreement.
Other teams wait in the wings, too, like Manchester City, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

In other words, every top team in Europe outside of Italy.
Signing Alabal won’t be easy, though. AS reported recently that his wages would cost £95m over a five-year contract. This isn’t exactly a ‘free’ signing, then.
Still, the Reds supposedly remain interested.
What RTK has to say
That is crazy money. It’s so much that we just can’t quite work out why Liverpool would pay it.
Do they need Alaba that much? Surely, Liverpool could put £95m to better use.
But this does fall under the category of ‘if Liverpool want it, they probably have the right idea’. That’s typically how these things go – Liverpool take a chance on a player and it turns out they were right to.
Regardless, it does sound like this one is impossible. If he’s got that verbal agreement with Real, Alaba is almost certainly going there.
The only flicker of hope is that Real haven’t committed yet because they could still back out. Perhaps they’re not entirely comfortable with that money, either.
But until they make that clear to Alaba, he is highly unlikely to sign elsewhere. It’s a waiting game, then. Not one Liverpool will probably win but they haven’t left the table yet.
