Graeme Souness feels Sadio Mane is a ‘real player’, hailing the Liverpool star as a ‘proper warrior’. Safe to say the Reds legend loves him, then.
Graeme Souness had only good things to say about Sadio Mane this week. He hailed the player while talking to Sky Sports’ Pitch to Post Podcast.
“It’s a word you wouldn’t associate with Mane,” said Souness. “But he’s a proper warrior, I don’t think anyone gets an easy ride when you play against him.
“You could kick him in the first minute and then every five minutes after that but he’ll be back after you at every turn, he’s a real player.”
What RTK has to say
We’ll always support good words about Mane and Souness described him perfectly. The 28-year-old is unquestionably a fighter.
In fact, it’s one of Mane’s greatest traits. He never backs off, never disappears and keep on pushing and pressing all game.
Of course, Mane sometimes has a poor game. This season, in fact, he’s had some very quiet spells.
No one would argue that it hasn’t been his sharpest season, yet he still has 11 goals across the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
That’s about as good an example as you’ll get of Mane’s ability to push through adversity. He’s managing a fine season even when things don’t go his way.
But, of course, we’re greedy and want more. Mane has 11 goals for the season already but if he can get that up to 20-ish before the season is out, Liverpool are in good shape.
We imagine Mohamed Salah will keep scoring, after all. The two of them can carry Liverpool to top four and, more importantly, a shot at the Champions League trophy this season.
If Diogo Jota can return and do the same, Liverpool are looking good for both.
