Report: Jadon Sancho asking-price set for huge £18m drop

Borussia Dortmund are set to reduce their asking-price for Jadon Sancho, according to reports. The German club aren’t in a great spot right now.

This comes from the BBC. They believe the Dortmund have little choice but to drop their asking-price for Jadon Sancho.

They’d wanted £105m last summer but no one paid it. Now, though, they’re looking at around £87m for a sale.

Dortmund have ‘accepted’ that Sancho is off – they have little choice, in truth. A poor season at the wrong time leaves them in debt and selling a star is the easiest way out.

They’ll hope to cover their losses with just Sancho’s departure but it may take more. Giovanni Reyna, Jude Bellingham, Raphael Guerreiro and even Erling Haaland are on their ’emergency sale list’.

What RTK has to say

We wish there was a more recent link between Sancho and Liverpool as we’d really love him at the club. Unfortunately, we have to go back to October for a good one.

The Independent claimed back then that Liverpool were a real possibility for Sancho in the summer of 2021. Now, there’s no real reason to believe that situation has changed.

The lack of talk since does suggest Sancho isn’t at the top of the list, though. Which would be a real shame.

In a lot of ways, he’s perfect for the Reds. He’s still very young but proven in a top European league. Stylistically, too, Sancho is a driven, versatile wide forward – Liverpool love those.

And his form has finally picked up this season. There’s no longer any worry that he’s slipping.

£87m for a 20-year-old with Sancho’s record is a bargain in this market, let’s be honest. You’re not finding anyone else close to his standard for that money anymore.

Not without getting lucky on a gamble.

Sancho, though, is a near-enough sure thing and he’s available on a discount price. That’s got to interest Liverpool, surely.
