Liverpool will face off against Ibrahima Konate this evening – a reported transfer target. This 90 minutes could sway their decision either way.
It’s one of the biggest games of the season today. Liverpool travel to Budapest for an unusual Champions League tie.
But with title hopes forgotten, conquering Europe quickly becomes the pinnacle of Liverpool’s season. And that journey starts tonight.
There’s an interesting side-story to this one, though. Liverpool will face off against two reported transfer targets – one who got away and one who’s still a real possibility.

The more interesting one for Liverpool, then, is Ibrahima Konate.
The Sunday World has Konate down as a Liverpool target. But they’re not alone in that.
And if we go back two weeks, we have BILD claiming that Liverpool now know that Konate has a release clause. It’s worth at least £36m, however.
Still, Konate is a player of very high potential. Liverpool may well pay that fee, even if he comes in as a third-choice centre-half.
Whether they do or not will come down to many factors, including what they think of him today. They’ll have their strikers going up against him and giving feedback – that’s going to have an effect on things.
Liverpool have done similar before, after all. They signed Takumi Minamino after a couple of great displays against them.
Konate only just makes this game, however. He’s been out with an injury but has played Leipzig’s last two. That should see him get minutes tonight.
And you can bet that Liverpool will watch him closely.
