In the midst of a three-match winless run for Liverpool, unsurprisingly, there have been rumours circulating across the media in regards to potential areas Jurgen Klopp can strengthen the squad this summer. In an exclusive interview with Rousing the Kop, Emile Heskey has tipped the Reds to bolster their attacking armoury with two Wolverhampton Wanderers starlets: Pedro Neto and Adama Traore.
There is no hiding from the fact that this recent barren run of form represents the toughest period of Jurgen Klopp’s tenure so far.
Liverpool have won just three of their previous 12 matches, after all, none of which have taken place at Anfield – with the Reds winless home run stretching back to December 16.
One of the growing concerns behind such an unaccustomed run of form from Liverpool’s behalf has been Jurgen Klopp’s ability to impact games with quality from his bench.
The Reds boss has been deprived the luxury of turning to players such as Virgil van Dijk, Diogo Jota, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, who are all currently nursing long-term injuries.

And as a result, Klopp has been forced to rely on the likes of Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to conjure up solutions from the bench when the team aren’t quite operating at full-capacity.
Unfortunately, the aforementioned names haven’t quite been able to come up with the answers during Liverpool’s recent time of need.
This, then, has prompted transfer speculation that Klopp will address key areas of his squad this summer, specifically players who can improve the quality of depth at the manager’s disposal.
Heskey backs Liverpool to make key additions
We asked an ex-Anfield favourite whether two all-stars from Molineux could potentially improve Liverpool’s attacking prospects next season.
In an exclusive interview with Rousing the Kop, Heskey identified both Neto and Traore as potential options for the Reds to explore this summer.
“Both of them. Traore and Neto,” he said. “Both give you different options and both are exciting players. Very, very direct which suits the way that Liverpool play.”
Indeed, both players would certainly do a job for Liverpool. Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane will all be 30 come to the end of the 2021/22 campaign, after all.
With that said, it makes sense for Klopp to improve the club’s attacking depth, an area of the team which Heskey believes Liverpool have struggled with for quite some time.
“They’ve never really had that [depth] before. Usually, the front-three have killed off a game, and you bring the others [Shaqiri and Origi] on to see the game out.
“Now, we are relying on those two to get yourself [Liverpool] back into a game or to finish off a game and it’s not quite there. The depth isn’t quite at the level of Manchester City.”
