Liverpool faced Man City today with a win vital to the prospect of a title race. They were battered in the second half but the turning point was undeniably a few minutes of madness from the Holy Goalie. Just ridiculous. Here are our Liverpool player ratings v Man City:
Alisson Becker – 1
Just speechless.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 5
The Scouser had some bright moments, Sadio Mane should’ve converted his clever cross in the first half. He needed to stop Sterling cutting inside.
Fabinho – 7
The Brazilian gave away a silly penalty in the first half but he was solid apart from that moment of madness.
Jordan Henderson – 8
The skipper was solid as ever at the back but we aren’t half missing him from the midfield.
Andy Robertson – 4
Andy Robbo, published author, needs better movement from the front three, he’s getting in the positions but they aren’t there for his crosses. He should’ve stopped Phil Foden shooting.
Thiago – 5
The Spaniard snapped Ilkay Gundogan early on to let him know he was there. Thereafter it was more of the same; plenty of clever passes and big tackles.
Gini Wijnaldum – 7
The Dutchman will be a catastrophic loss if we don’t hold onto him. What a player, another determined performance.
Curtis Jones – 8.5
The Scouser was a surprise selection in the midfield but he had a blinder, he certainly rose to the occasion.
Mo Salah – 8.5
The Egyptian King was quiet for large portions of the game but he still comes alive for those vital moments, nice one Mo.
Sadio Mane – 4
Not enough of an impact but as ever we can’t fault the effort from the wide man.
Roberto Firmino – 4
Again not enough of an impact but again he doesn’t stop trying. Best we can expect when the team is being dragged this way and that by injuries.
