Liverpool have been busy bees in the past week. The Reds have been signing centre backs and losing games. Jürgen Klopp’s side finally brought in defensive reinforcements, although it took a season ending injury for Joel Matip to force the club’s hand. According to The Athletic, Liverpool still want Dayot Upamecano in the summer.
The Reds were desperate for defensive reinforcements.
Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez were ruled out for the season in the Autumn.
Since then Fabinho and Joel Matip have done their best to hold down the fort.
Disappointingly, Matip has also been ruled out for the season.

This latest blow prompted Liverpool to swoop for Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak.
Davies was signed from Preston North End on a long term deal whilst Kabak arrived on loan from Schalke with the Reds having an option to buy him at the end of the season.
Liverpool and Dayot Upamecano
There were dozens of names mooted as potential signings before Kabak arrived.
One such name is set to face the Reds in the Champions League this month.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool are still interested in Dayot Upamecano.
Simon Hughes explained on the David Ornstein show that the Frenchman is still ‘very high on the list’ of potential arrivals.
The journalist added that the Reds’ January signings have no effect on the club’s plans for the summer.
What RTK has to say
Liverpool signing Dayot Upamecano in the summer would be the dream.
The Frenchman has a £38m release clause in his contract.
Thanks to Liverpool not splashing out on Davies and not committing to Kabak, activating this clause is still realistic.
We’ll be praying for the Leipzig star’s arrival.
