Liverpool were busy on transfer deadline day. The club acted late to beef up the backline, a defence knackered by injuries. Many believe that the reluctance to delve into the winter market points to big summer plans. One man mooted for a summer move may have become more available. According to Bild, Borussia Dortmund are set to drop their asking price for Liverpool target Jadon Sancho to £88m.
Liverpool summer plans
When Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez were ruled out for the season everybody assumed that the Reds would be busy in January.
We expected that the club would have a defender through the door the day the window opened.
This didn’t come to pass.
Instead, the club worked on deadline day deals, prior to this business telling everyone there was no money for moves and we had to wait until the summer.

Many took this business as an indicator that the club must be preparing for big things at the end of the season.
Liverpool target Jadon Sancho price drop
There are plenty of potential big summer buys for the Reds.
Last October, The Independent claimed Liverpool were looking at Jadon Sancho for a 2021 move.
The Guardian believed his price tag to be £108m.
Bild (via The Mirror) have now claimed that Borussia Dortmund have dropped their asking price to £88m.
The move allegedly comes as a way of reigniting Manchester United interest.
There have been suggestions that the Red Devils have decided against another approach for the winger after being impressed with Amad Diallo.
What RTK has to say
Liverpool target Jadon Sancho may not be hitting the same heights this year but Dortmund as a club aren’t either.
We can point to a number of elite players across Europe who are clearly exhausted and not at their best, suffering from the shortened pre-season and a congested fixture list.
Signing Sancho for £88m would be a clever move. He will be just 21-years-old in the summer, he’s got a decade at the top ahead of him.
