Jurgen Klopp highlighted fatigue after Liverpool suffered defeat to Brighton on Wednesday. Fortunately, the Reds already have the best remedy at hand.
Liverpool have a problem with mental fatigue. That’s according to Jurgen Klopp, speaking after his team suffered another home defeat.
The Reds now have two Anfield defeats in the Premier League since April 2017. And both have come in the last two games there.
Not that the poor form stops and starts there. They haven’t actually scored an Anfield goal in 2021, while they went on a run of five without a win recently.
Klopp believes mental fatigue is at the heart of the issue.

“For me, the team looked, and it’s long ago since we looked like this, but we looked fatigued, mentally fatigued. That leads to not the best legs as well,” Klopp said, per Sky Sports.
“It was a tough week and today we were not fresh enough, and that means then not good enough to break the formation of Brighton.”
Fortunately, Liverpool might have their solution already.
One way to get around a mental fatigue is fresh ideas. Ideas that can rejuvenate the attack and get people thinking differently.
Or, quite honestly, it could be as simple as just having players who aren’t mentally fatigued.
Liverpool will soon have both solutions available to them.
The new signings in defence, for instance, will not suffer from mental fatigue. They’re going to be ready and raring to go.
We can’t imagine Diogo Jota, either, will feel fatigued after not playing for nearly two months. He should be fairly sharp-minded.
As for fresh ideas, Liverpool will have that in new combinations. Thiago and Jota have 12 minutes together, to name one – they’ll bring something new when they link up.
Similarly, if Jordan Henderson and Fabinho can move back into midfield, the Reds will have the Thiago – Fabinho – Henderson triangle available in their best positions.
They haven’t had that since October 17th.
So we’re not too worried here. The title will obviously be difficult to win – but that should be the case after an injury crisis. We have to expect that.
But as far as the poor form goes, Liverpool should correct it when the squad is together. Get the new signings up to speed with Jota back in action and everything will look brighter.
